Cancel a payment, or cancel Nivas.

Residents cancel payments; committees cancel plans. This page covers both, and what happens to the society's records when it leaves.

For residents

Whether a payment can be cancelled depends on how far it got.

  1. 01 · Before you approve it

    Just go back.

Close the bank's page or press back. Nothing is charged. For a while the payment stays open, so going back to pay resumes it rather than starting a second one.

  2. 02 · Approved, not yet confirmed

    Do not pay again.

The bank is still deciding. We keep checking with ICICI Bank for up to 4 days. It either becomes a receipt, or the debit is reversed to you.

  3. 03 · Confirmed, with a receipt

It can no longer be cancelled.

The money is on its way to the society’s account and the receipt is on your flat. If it should not have been paid, ask for a refund instead.

Paid for the wrong flat or the wrong amount? See the refund policy. Want to leave Nivas altogether as a resident? See delete your account.

For committees

A society can leave at any time.

During the pilot

Stop whenever you like. There is no fee, no contract and no notice period. Tell us, and we close the society’s account.

On a paid plan

Cancel at any time. The plan runs to the end of the period already paid for, and nothing further is billed. A period that has started is not refunded pro rata.

Online payments only

A committee can ask us to switch online payments off without leaving Nivas. Payments already confirmed still settle; members simply stop seeing the pay button.

What happens next

Your records leave with you.

  • We export the society’s full records to a spreadsheet and hand them over first.
  • Records stay live for 90 days, so a committee changeover does not lose them by accident.
  • After that they are removed, except the financial entries the law requires us to keep.

When Nivas has to stop

We may suspend online payments or access for fraud, misuse, repeated chargebacks or a breach of the terms. We give notice and a chance to fix it, unless the bank or the law requires us to act at once.

Ready to cancel?

Write from the chairman's or secretary's number or email on record, so we know the request comes from the committee. We confirm within 2 working days.
